5G Wireless Mobile Technician

The 5G Wireless Mobile Technician is a hybrid training program comprised of a theoretical remote-learning and laboratory work. The laboratory hands-on experience will be delivered in person in QCC's Campus in Bayside. At the end of training, selected participants will be placed into paid apprenticeship position with mobile infrastructure contractors. Upon completion of the training  graduates will be issued a certificate on 5G Wireless Mobile Technician. The 5G Wireless Mobile Technician is an endorsement recognized by local and regional businesses dedicated to maintenance and deployment of mobile infrastructure.

RF Productivity

dB notation, signal propagation, spectrum allocation, transmission lines, mismatch and reflection; Sources of interference, and testing

Electrical DC and AC Circuits

DC/AC networks, symbols and wiring diagrams; Distribution, protection devices, wiring, and regulations


Fundamentals of Networks and Operating Systems

IP routing, subnetting, topologies, configuration and scripting; cable management, and testing.


Mobile Networks and Sites

4G and 5GNR, architecture, physical layer, SA and NSA, DAS, heterogenous networks, site preparation, CBRS, SOW, and best practices


PIM testing

Basic concepts, testing methodologies, procedures, troubleshooting and mitigation; Testing on DAS and high-frequency networks.


Basic Fiber Optics

Standards, connector identification, termination, spllicing and troubleshooting.


Safety Certifications

Guidelines for safety certifications required to work in the NYC market.
